Islamabad May 21st - A successful two day training event on UMTS/WCDMA was concluded by the Central Asian Cellular Forum on May 21st. The classes were held at the CDMA/WCDMA HR Development Center, Iqra University, Islamabad Campus.

The workshop held from 20th – 21st May 2009 was headed by Dr Syed Ismail Shah, Executive Director, Central Asian Cellular Forum. Dr. Shah is also an associate Dean at Iqra University and is a Qualcomm certified trainer. Dr. Shah was accompanied by Mr. Shariq Yasin, Senior Engineer RNE, Central Asian Cellular Forum.

The workshop was part of a series of training programs conducted by Central Asian Cellular Forum ahead of the expected 3G (UMTS/WCDMA) licensing, scheduled to be held in the near future. A total of 16 professionals from renowned organizations like, WLL operator Diallog (Great Bear Int. (Pvt.) Ltd.), USF (Universal Service Fund) and engineering students from Hamdard and Iqra University attended the training. At the end of the event certificates for “UMTS/WCDMA Technical Overview” were distributed amongst the students. The event was actively support by Qualcomm Inc. USA.
