The main objective of the training program was to improve the technical skill level of the participants as the operators are planning a major network upgrade and expansion of its broadband service via the EVDO technology. The workshop was very essential due to the fact that the internet penetration in Mongolia is quite low. Few years ago the government implemented a campaign to distribute one PC in each house, the average cost of which was USD800. Twenty thousand laptops have been supplied to the households for free.
The training session was conducted by Dr. Syed Ismail Shah, who heads the CACF CDMA HR Development Centre and is known for conducting wireless technologies training across the globe especially in 3G technologies. A total of 19 professionals attended the workshop.
At the conclusion of the event, efforts of the Central Asian Cellular Forum and QUALCOMM towards development of much required 3G Human Resource were well applauded by the participating organizations. Later certificates were also distributed amongst the participants. |
